On 7th July 2008, George Town (Penang,Malaysia) was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status

Founded 200 years ago, the city has an impressive collection of historic buildings representing the cultural heritage of Penang's various ethnicities : Chinese,Indians,Arabs,Malays,Archehnese,Siamese, Burmese and Europeans.

CORE ZONE 核心区 - 109.38 ha

THE HISTORIC CITY OF George Town covers an area of 109.38 hectares bounded by the Straits of Melaka on the north-eastern cape Penang Island,Lorong Love (Love Lane)
to the North-West and Gat Lebuh Melayu and Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong to south-west corner.

There are more than 1700 historic buildings within this core zone align on the four main streets of :
1) Pangkalan Weld
2) Lebuh Pantai
3) Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling
4) Lorong Love (Love Lane)
